TDN World Desk: At least 16 people killed and 25 others injured when a head-on collision took between two train in Brahmanbaria district in eastern Bangladesh early on Tuesday morning.
Dhaka-bound Turna Nishita Express from Chattogram rammed into Chattogram-bound Udayan Express from Sylhet at Mondobhag Railway Station around 3:00am, said Md Delwar Hossain, a railway staff.
Among the injured 10 people could have been identified. According to the Daily Star, so far 7 railway staffs have been suspended in connection with the train accident.
Railway minister Nurul Islam Sujan announced that compensation will be given to the families of the deceased and victims.
The reason behind the accident may be signal violation.
“One of the trains might have violated the signal, leading to the tragedy,” one police official, Shayamal Kanti Das, told Reuters.
