He alleged in “New India”, humans are each others’ enemies, unlike the”Old India” wherein there was no hatred, anger or lynchings.

TDN World Desk: Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Gulam Nabi Az ad launched a scathing attack on BJP taking note of the mob-lynchings and atrocities against minorities and Dalits in the country.

On Monday, he talked in the upper house expressing his concern for
the present scenario of India where minorities are no longer safe. Recently the mob lynching of Tabrez in Jharkhand has shaken the country. Gulam Nabi Azad has raised the issue in Parliament and rued for the “new India” under the Modi government. He asked BJP to give back “the old India” it was before and keep the “new India” themselves.

“I n ‘Old India’, there was no hatred, anger or lynching. ‘New India’ is one where humans are enemies of each other. You won’t be scared of animals in a jungle, but you’ll be scared of humans in a colony. Give us an India where Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians live for each other,” Azad said in the Parliamentary house.

He also said that unlike the present, the “old India” shared an interfaith fraternal bond.

“Hindus used to feel pain when Muslims and Dalits used to get hurt (in old India). When something used to get into the eyes of Hindus, Muslims and Dalits used to shed tears for them,” he added.

He also took dig about PM Modi’s “Padhao and Beti Bachao” campaign. Azad said it was just plain talking. He took to BJP citing that rapes were at an all-time high and the minor girls are not even safe in the country.
