TDN World Desk: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday said the valley of Jammu and Kashmir is and will always remain an integral part of India. While stressing the need to have a consistent policy for the region, he asked Pakistan not to meddle in Kashmir affairs.

Taking note of the existing alienation about the region, he made an appeal to act effectively to store normalcy in the region.

“The Kashmir problem cannot be treated in a James Bond or a Rambo style… Someone will have to show a statesman-like approach. There is alienation and things have to be done in a proper way,” he was quoted as saying by TOI.

The Hyderabad MP said irrespective Congress or the BJP at the center, they have ‘no policy, no vision’ to bring back normalcy in the region. “I feel that there has to be a consistent policy on Kashmir which unfortunately is lacking,” he said.

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader was replying to a question during a panel discussion. He was replying to a question posed to him at a conference organized by Telangana Jagruthi International Youth Leadership which began on Saturday. He said he has not seen so many lives being destroyed with pellet guns in the last eight years.

Citing a report, he took jibe at the ruling BJP party in centre for not doing anything for the Kashmiri Pundits. He also highlighted the instance of IAS officer Sah Faisal, who recently resigned protesting the state repression over the Kashmiri people and ‘marginalization’ of minority Indian Muslims. He said Faisal should devise his independent political journey.

“Let him chalk out his own independent political journey and that is what Kashmir requires. You do not want Kashmir’s political journey to be controlled by babus or IB officers sitting in Delhi,” Owaisi added.
