TDN World Desk: Amid mixed reaction over the extra-judicial killing of the four accused in the Hyderabad veterinary doctor’s gang-rape and murder incident, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court on Saturday seeking top court-appointed and monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into the case.
The petition was filed by advocate ML Sharma. Mr Sharma also sought action against Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan and Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal for encouraging and supporting extrajudicial killing.

In last week, Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan called for public lynching of rapists. On Friday, reacting to the police encounter of the four accused in the veterinarian myurderd case, she told reporters outside the parliament, ”Der aaye durust aaye (better late than never).”

Women panel head Swati Maliwal on Friday said the Hyderabad encounter would send out a strong message against rapists.

On Saturday, another petition was filed by Advocates GS Mani and Pradeep Kumar Yadav in the Supreme Court seeking investigation and registration of FIR against police personnel who were involved in the killing of four accused in the gang-rape and murder of a veterinarian in Telangana. The two advocates have approached the Supreme Court saying the top court’s 2014 guidelines were not followed in the case.

On Friday, early at 3 am. All four accused in the case were killed in an encounter with the police when they tried to escape while being taken to the crime spot, police said.

The doctor was brutally gang-raped and suffocated to death by the four before they set to ablaze her body in Shamshabad area on November 27.
