TDN World Desk: BJP and TMC are locked up in a tug of war regarding NRC policy. On Wednesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced in Rajya Sabha that NRC will be carried out nationwide. Bengal Chief Minister addressing a public gathering in Murshidabad however, contradicts Shah’s statement. ” I will not let a single person leave Bengal,” She said.

Amid this duel between TMC and BJP, Surjya Kant Mishra, a veteran CPI(M) leader reacted to this entire course of events as divisive politics. On Wednesday, he said, ” BJP and TMC are playing divisive cards on NRC. But, in West Bengal, in any way we will prevent NRC.”
Attacking Mamta Banerjee he also said, ” If the Chief Minister is against NRC, why she is alloting land to set up detention camp.”

Reacting to Amit Shah’s announcement in Rajya Sabha, Mishra, the former health minister of Bengal, said,” We have clearly said, we will not let NRC to be carried out in our state. We have come to know that two detention camps are being set up in West Bengal. Though, we are told that these camps are to detain the foreigners who are under prosecution of foreigners’ tribunal. But we fear these camps will aslo be used in future to keep those left out of NRC.”
