TDN World Desk: As rape incidents frequented in Yogi Adityanath’s Uttar Pradesh the opposition put pressure on the ruling BJP.
On Saturday Priyanka Gandhi visited the family members of the victim in Unnao – who died on Thursday after set on fire by the men who had allegedly raped her – and alleged that the attackers were connected to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Priyanka Gandhi, general secretary of eastern UP said, as quoted by ANI, ”The victim’s whole family has been constantly harassed since last year. I have heard the culprits have some BJP connection. That is why they were being shielded. There is no fear among criminals in the state.”

“Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is saying there is no place for criminals in the state but what he has turned the state into, I think there is no place for women here,” she added.

To protest the brutal killing of the Unnao rape victim Samajwadi chief and former chief minister of UP, Akhilesh Yadav today sat in dharna outside Vidhan Bhavan along with senior leaders of the party.

Reportedly, the 23-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries after suffering nearly 90% burns in late night at Delhi’s Safdurjung hospital on Friday. The woman was allegedly set to ablaze as she was on her way to court on a hearing plea which she had filed earlier in March.
