TDN World Desk: After day-long debate and discussion on Citizenship Amendment Bill Rajya Sabha passed the Bill on Wednesday around pm. 125 Rajya Sabha members voted in favour of the bill while 105 voted aginst Bill.

As per the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019, the Hindus, Sikh, Jain and Christian who has come to India before December 31, 2014 from the neighbouring three countries Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, will be granted Indian citizenship. This bill excluded the Muslims. The BJP government reasoned that the Muslims community are not included in the bill as these countries are Islamic and majority muslim country.

The opposition, however, called the bill unconstitutional.
