TDN World Desk: Sikh man DS Bindra who came into the limelight for serving langar to the anti-CAA-NRC-NPR protesters at the Shaheen Bagh has been booked for instigating in Delhi riot. In order to run the community kitchen on charity the Sikh man had even sold his flat and won people’s heart.

But, to his utter surprise, Bindra now finds his name mentioned in the chargesheet filed by Delhi Police in the death of constable Ratan Lal under FIR no-60.

Speaking to The Quint Bindra said, “What wrong have I committed? Is serving langar a crime?”.

The report of Bindra’s name appearing in the charge sheet prepared by Delhi Crime Branch in connection to the murder of constable Ratan Lal during the North East Delhi riot was published in OpIndia- a rightwing Hindutva portal.

The far-right Hindutva portal cites in its repor that DS Bindr was a leader of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and key person to organise anti-CAA protets.

The charge sheet which is primarily based on testimonies, states that the riot was the handiwork of DS Bindra, Salman Siddiqui,Salim Khan, and Atahar etc in cahoots with local rioters.

Speaking to media Bindra denied of taking in violence or his role as the main organiser of the protests.

“As I told you, I just put up a langar. This is part of my Sikh faith. People from every community ate at the langar without discrimination – be it Sikhs who had come from Punjab to join protests or local Muslims. Even others who wanted vegetarian food would come,”Bindra told the Quint.

He also sid he has no other motif, whatever he had done, was for the sake of humanity.

“I don’t know what lies ahead. All I can say is that whatever I did was for the sake of humanity,” he said.
