TDN World: Two student activists from Aligarh Muslim University, Farhan Zuberi and Ravish Ali Khan, have been arrested on Thursday by Aligarh police. Both had been active in the campus as student activists in the anti-CAA movement.
Maskoor Usmani, the former president of Aligarh Muslim University Students’ Union (AMUSU) has condemned the arrest.
Ascertaining the arest of Farhan Zuberi, Usmani said,”Former Cabinet Member, AMUSU FarhanZuberi has been arrested by the police for participating in Anti CAA movement & has been continuously providing ration to the poor during lock-down.This is definitely being done to intimidate the particular community and suppress their voice.”
Condemning the arrest student activist Ayesha Renna demanded their immediate release.
Renna said in a Tweet, “Two students from Aligarh Muslim University, Farhan Zuberi and Ravish Ali Khan have been just arrested by the SDM and CO. Both had been active in the campus as student activists. A highly condemnable act.”
Another ex-AMUSU president, Abdul Hafiz Gandhi, termed the arrest as “witch-hunting of anti-CAA protesters”.
“Is it a crime to oppose discriminatory and unjust laws,” Putting out a Tweet, Gandhi further asked.
Twitteratis also lead digital campaign demanding release of the student activists.

Asif Iqbal Tanha, Safoora Zargar, Devangana Kalita, Natasha Narwal were arrested for registering their active voice against the discriminatory amended Citizenship Act.
On Tuesday, student leaders such as Kanhaiya Kumar, Jignesh Mehwani, Ayesha Renna, Aishe Gosh, Umar Khalid, Fawaz Shaheen, N Sai Balaji and others made a digital press conference condemning the “continuous witch-hunt of students and anti-CAA activists in politically motivated fake charges”.
