Staff Reporter, TDN World: Ahead of Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s “Dharm Sabha” march Welfare Party of India demanded to provide security to the minorities residing at the Ayodhya and Faizabad area.
On Wednesday, Nov 24, The Party issued a press statement taking note of the dire situation that looms into the region “creating a very tense atmosphere and fear psychosis amongst Muslim citizens residing there”.
Dr SQR Ilyas national president of Welfare Party of India demanded protection of their lives and properties.
He reminded that in 1992 when Babri Masjid was demolished a similar situation prevailed with Lakhs of karsevaks going berserk and destroying lives and properties of thousands of Muslims as there was a complete breakdown of state’s law and order machinery, he demanded that such a bloody history should not be repeated and said that the Army should be called immediately to ensure peace and internal security.
While seeking an immediate intervention of the Hon’ble Supreme Court to take Suo moto cognizance of the situation there, Dr Ilyas, pointed out that the matter of mandir/masjid issue is subjudiced and the status quo of the disputed site has to be maintained at all cost.
On 25 November Vishwa Hindu Parishad, RSS and other Hardliners have called for a massive march into the disputed site at Ayodhya.
Ahead of “Dharma Sabha” and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray’s visit into the land Muslims living there are in deep uncertainty and fear of their lives.
BJP legislator Surendra Singh threatened to take law and order in their hands. On Thursday said “if need be, 1992 would be repeated in Ayodhya on November 25”. He also said that the temple would be built at all costs -“constitutionally, legally or some other way”.
According to a report by National Herald, out of fear over 3,500 Muslims have already fled the city.
