TDN World Desk: After Saudi Arabia Egypt shuts down mosques to curb infection of coronavirus. Egypt has more than 100,000 mosques.
Al-Azhar, Egypt’s top Sunni Muslim authority also announced closure of its historic mosque, situated in old cairo, “for the safety of worshippers, and until the end of the coronavirus epidemic”.
The churches will also remain closed. Coptic Orthodox Church said it ordered “the closure of all churches, suspension of ritual services, masses and activities”. christians represent Egypt’s 10 percent population. As of Sunday, 294 confirmed cases has been repoted in Egypt while 10 people were dead due to the pandemic.
