TDN World Desk: Amid pandemic novel coronvirus lockdown Israel has been carryiong out its heinous plan to annex the West Bank. In such a situation, Jordan came out in support of Palestine and warned if Israel annexes the West Bank, it would lead to a “massive conflict” with Jordan.
“If Israel really annexes the West Bank in July, it would lead to a massive conflict with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan,” King Abdullah II said in an interview with Der Spiegel, reports Anadolu Agency.
The Jordan King further expressed concern that any attempt to solve the issue without consensual decision may end up in chaos and extremism in the region.
“Leaders who advocate a one-state solution do not understand what that would mean,” he said
The the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has long been opposing the annexation plan of Israel emboldended by US President Donald Trump’s so-called Deal of the Century plan, which was announced on Jan. 28. It refers to Jerusalem as “Israel’s undivided capital” and recognizes Israeli sovereignty over large parts of the West Bank.
In a recent diplomatic move, EU assured that they would use all their diplomatic capacities to try to dissuade Israel’s incoming government from going ahead with the annexation of illegal settlements in the region.
