TDN World Desk: Modi-Amit Shah duo has took larger interest in Bengal election. Worked hard to get as many seats as possible from Bengal to consolidate its hold in the parliament.
However, when the outcome is positive, Bengal outdid BJP’s expectation winning 18 seats, the centre leadership couldn’t justify with the state regarding ministerial anticipation. Bengal is awarded with only two Minister of State. Not a single cabinet minister from Bengal. Which is why Bengal BJP leadeship has disenchanted with Mdoi government 2.0.
Unlike previous elections, this time Bengal witnessed a massive saffron surge pocketing 40 percent of total vote-share. Naturally, Bengal BJP anticipated that they will be awarded with 5 to 6 ministers. While, in reality they were given only two Minister of State, not even a single independent ministerial Berth. Babul Supriyo, from Assansol and Debashree from Raiganj Lok Sabha constituency were assigned with Minister of State.
Bengal BJP leadeship is not happy with this decision Narendra Modi Government. They, at least, sould be given one cabinet Minister considering their unprecedented success in the election. But they were deprived. BJP West Bengal leadership are of this opinion.
Is this a language based discrimination? Speculation is rife.
On Thursday, while addressing a rally in Naihati Municipality Corporation, Mamta Benarjee poured oil into the speculation.
Banerjee said “The BJP is trying to create a Bengali, non-Bengali divide in the state.”
Her speech clearly indicates that
TMC will use the issue of Bengali identify and Bengali language as their political agenda to counter nationalism and Hinduism fervour triggered by BJP.
And this allegedly deprivation by the central BJP to Bengal by not giving a single cabinet minister can help Mamta Banerjee to substantiate her agenda of Bengali identity politics.
