But, this time surpasses all by becoming the most generous Indian in the field of social service (primarily through education) and benevolence. As per report, Azim Premji, the founder and chairman of Wipro, has topped the list of Indian
philanthropists for 2020. He donated ₹7,904 crore, that accounts for ₹22 crore a day.

“On 1 April, Azim Premji Foundation, Wipro, and Wipro Enterprises have committed ₹1,125 crore towards tackling the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. These are in addition to the annual CSR activities of Wipro, and the usual philanthropic spending of the Azim Premji Foundation,” according to the press release issued by EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2020.

According to the seventh edition of EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2020, HCL’S Shiv Nadar 75, ranked second with Rs 795 crore donation. Reliance Industries’ chairman and the richest Indian Mukesh Ambani ranked 3rd with a donation of Rs 458 crore.

Other Indian philanthropist who featured in the list are Infosys’ Nandan Nilekani (donation worth Rs 204 crore) , Piramal group’s Ajay Piramal (donation Rs 200 crore), Infosys’ Rohini Nilekani (142), Bajaj Auto’s Rahul Bajaj (Rs 131 crore), Serum Institute of India’s Cyrus P Poonawalla ( Rs 117 crore ), Vedanta’s Anil Agarwal ( Rs113 crore ),  Adani Group’s Gautam Adani
( Rs 84 crore ), Godrej family ( Rs 84 crore ).
