TDN World Desk: On Thursday, 500 AMU students were booked for protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Bill that was passed in Lok Sabha on Wednesday night.

Aligarh Muslim University has been carrying out massive protest campaign against the controversial CAB since last few days. Over 25,000 students threatend to carry out hunger strike. Aligarh Students body have also issued show cause notice to university principal and professors seeking reasons of their deafening silence over CAB.

Why the students have been booked? City police Superintendent Abhishek said that the students did not seek permission to stage the protests.

Caravan report qouted Mr Abhishek who told media, ”  When the protesters crossed the campus gate and tried to enter the city, they were stopped at the University Circle. Some of the student leaders misbehaved with the officers and heckled some constables. Hence, an FIR was registered under Sections 188 and 353 of the IPC.”

The police officer said additional force will be deployed in the University premises.

The AMU students said that the police registered FIR against the students with an intent to intimidate them but it is not going to stop them.
