Own Correspondent,TDN World, Kolkata: Welfare party of India and its associate Organisations have called for a 12-hour bandh in entire West Bengal. On Thursday, addressing a press meeting Mansa Sen, the state party president, has made the announcement. The shut down and protests will start on that day at 6 am and continue till 6pm.
Speaking to reporters, Mansa Sen said, ” Citizenship Amendment Bill is unconstitutional and discriminatory. This bill will destroy the concept of India as a socialist, democratic, secular and republic country. BJP government is passing the Bill to generate its own vote bank. This bill is not based on humanitarian ground as it deprives thousands of immigrants coming from other neighbouring countries such as Myanmar, Tibet, and Sri Lanka. This bill is introduced as a ploy to distract people from a number of burning issues. We will fight against this bill till the end.”
The affiliate Organisations of Welfare party of India – Federation of Indian Trade Union, Fraternity Movement of India – have supported the bandh. In the evening Welfare Party also led a protest march burning symbolic CAB.
The party stated that the bandh will not affect the Ambulance and other emergency services.
In the evening time a throng of people from Kolkata held protest rally against CAB in Park Circus area bearing flaming torchs in hand.
