TDN World Desk: To stop Telangana Rashtra Samiti from bagging Chairperson and Vice Chairperson posts the two arch-rival of the National politics – the BJP and Congress – came together in Manikonda Municipality.

Being an IT hub, Manikonda was an important Municipality Corporation. Both the Congress and TRS has been hankering after to bag the top post of this civic body. And to achieve its aspiration Congress, in an unprecedented move, joined hands together with BJP, immersing all its ‘secular’ ideological attributes. After a mutual understanding between the patties the Congress and BJP ultimately managed to attain the posts of Chairperson and deputy-Chqirperson respectively.

As reported by TOI, Congress MP Vishweshwar Reddy who hails from
Chevella Konda, along with his party men from Rangareddy district Congress played a key-role to arrange the tie-up with Bharatiya Janata Party.

Congress and BJP supported each other’s candiadte to defeat TRS in Makthal, Manikonda, and
Turkayanjal municipalities, reported News 18.

Reacting to the Cong-BJP nexus
TRS working president and municipal administration minister KT Rama Rao termed it an “unholy alliance” of two national parties.

Congress however defended its stance. Speaking to TOI ( MP Vishweshwar said, “There is an acute water problem in the municipal area and TRS has done nothing. Even members of Neknampur lake committee were in favour of Congress-BJP coming together to keep out TRS.”

“I gave the go-ahead after an understanding was reached between local Congress and BJP leaders. We will continue to fight against each other in every other election. This understanding in Manikonda is for the welfare of the people and confined to Manikonda only,” he said further.

When asked about the alliance between the two parties, Telangana state leadership apparently distanced themselves saying the decision to form the alliance with Congress was taken by the local leaders in view of the Welfare of the people of Manikonda.

“The BJP state-level leadership has no role in the Congress-BJP understanding in Manikonda. The BJP state leadership does not think on the lines of going along with Congress”, TOI quoted K Laxman,
Telangana BJP president, as saying.

To take over the TRS, Congress made a similar attempt of forming alliance with BJP in Narsingi municipality also. However a clever move by the ruling TRS has foiled the adventure by luring a BJP ward member.

Taking note of the alliance between Congress and BJP, AIMIM supremo Asaduddin Owaisi lashed out at the Congress.

Sharing snapshots of the news papers carrying the report of alliance between Congress and BJP, Owaisi wrote on his FB page Tuesday, “Congress, now who is the ‘B-team’ of the Sangh Parivar?”

“AIMIM despite winning 16 seats supported TRS, which won 13 seats, for the Mayor of Nizamabad Municipal Corporation to defeat BJP’s nefarious designs and ensure development⁦⁦⁦ whereas BJP and Congress joined hands.”

Owaisi also took the matter to Twitter and hit out at Congress suggesting it is helping RSS not AIMIM.

It is to be noted that in the political discourse some allege that Owaisi doing identity politics and in the process helping BJP to flourish.
