TDN World Desk: Hemanta Biswas Sarma, a BJP Minister in Assam was forced to take airlift as anti Citizenship Act protesters block road.

According to PTI report, Sarma could not reach Ghoramari, where he had to attend an event to pay tribute to deceased BJP MLA Rajen Borthakur. The protestors who took the streets under the banner of All Assam Students’ Union,blocked the National Highway 15 between Tezpur and Ghoramari.

However, Himanta Biswas Sarma, the Assam Minister of health and finance, manged to arrive the scheduled even by taking helicopter ride for 5 kilometres.

AASU Chief Adviser Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya on Sunday said that they will continue protest and blockade against BJP and its ally AGP leaders across the state until the Citizenship Amendment Act is repealed.

Since the legislation of Citizenship Act, Assam has been on rage. At least 26 people died in the anti-CAA protests.
