TDN World Desk: India’s external spy agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) expressed great concern over the legislation of Citizenship Amendment Bill as it poses national security threat. The agency fears that exploiting the legal framework of Citizenship Amendment Bill the intelligence agencies like Pakistan’s ISI could push their “own people” into the country.
The R&AW’s concern were put before a Joint Committee of Parliament which scrutinized the earlier version of CAB.
The concerns reflected by the national agency stated that agencies like Pakistan’s ISI can use the provisions of the Bill to push infiltrators under the guise of a Bangladeshi or Pakistani non-Muslim in the country and use them against the country.
According to Citizenship Amendment Bill the non-Muslims – Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, Christians, Parsis, Buddhists who entered India before December 31,2014 will be granted Indian Citizenship.
