TDN World Desk: On Thursday during the oath taking ceremony of former CJI Ranjan Gogoi in Rajya Sabha as an MP the Congress and other opposition shouted “shame and “deal”.

Gogoi, 65, retired as Chief Justice of India in last November. During his tenure as CJI, he has pronounced severak key judgements such as Ayodhya, Sabarimala temple and Rafale Jet deal case.

after Gogoi’ was nominted as Rajya Sabha MP by President Ram Nath Kovind,the opposition leader criticized him.

Former Supreme Court judge, Justice Kurian Joseph raised concern over Gogoi’s acceptance of Rajya Sabha nomination.”I am surprised as to how Justice Ranjan Gogoi, who once exhibited such courage of conviction to uphold the independence of judiciary, has compromised the noble principles on the independence and impartiality of the judiciary,” Justice Kurian said on Tuesday.
