TDN World Desk: Today Fire broke out at a luggage manufacturing factory in Anaj Mandi, Rani Jhansi Road in the early morning, around 5 am. At least 4O died, NDTV reported. Most of the people who died are laborer were sleeping at the time in the factory.
50 people have been rescued so far.
Atul Garg, Chief Fire Officer, Delhi Fire Service on fire at Rani Jhansi Road said, ” Till now we have rescued more than 50 people, most of them were affected due to smoke.” He was quoted by ANI.
Delhi Minister Imran Hussain said,
” It is a tragic incident. Investigation will be conducted and action will be taken against whoever is responsible for it.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended condolences for the breaved families. Taking to Twitter, PM Modi said, “The fire in Delhi’s Anjan Mandi on Rani Jhansi Road is extremely horrific. My thoughts are with those who lost their loved ones. Wishing the injured a quick recovery. Authorities are providing all possible assistance at the site of the tragedy.”
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ordered a quick magisterial inquiry into the incident. Kejriwal who visited the spot after the news of fire, announced Rs 10 lakh compensation to each of the deceased family and Rs 1 lakh for each of the injured. He also said the medical expenses of the injured ones will also be borne by the Delhi government.
