TDN World Desk: The Aligarh police on Tuesday arrested Hindu Mahasabha general secretary Pooja Shakun Pandey and her husband Ashok Pandey for allegedly making “inflammatory remarks” against Tablighi Jamaat members in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), The Indian Express reported.

“Pooja Shakun and her husband Ashok Pandey were arrested from their residence in Gandhi Park area. They were produced before a local court that sent them to judicial custody,” Circle Officer, Aligarh, Pankaj Srivastava was quoted by the news outlet.

Pooja nad her husband who is the national spokesperson of Hindu Mahasabha were booked on Monday for targeting the Tablighi Jaamat congregation ta Nizamuddin Markaz and giving it a communal colour. Police took prompt action following complaint filed by Samajwadi Party MLA from Aligarh City Haji Zameer Ullah Khan.

Since last few days Tablighi Jamaat, a moderate Islamic organization is being made scapegoat to demonize the muslim community while the whole country is under lockdown to contain the Pandemic.

According to Drccan Herald, Puja Shakun Pandey, the national secretary of Hindu Mahasabha was charged with promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race etc (IPC section 153 A) and with making statements creating or promoting emnity hatred or ill-will among classes (505-2).

It is to be noted that in the previous year Puja Shakun Pandey and her husband both were arrested for recreating the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary.
