Hyderabad – Devastating flood wreaked havoc in Hyderabad and killed over 50 people. In this acute hours of humanitarian needs Jamaat-e- Islami Hind and Students Islamic Organization of India (SIO) has made an example of by conducting extensive rescue operation, rendering shelters, clothes and foods to the flood affected people in a war footing way.
Since day one SIO, in collaboration with Jamaat e Islami Hind (JIH) Hyderabad, worked for the rescue and food distribution in heavily affected areas of Nadeem Colony in Tolichowki, Golkonda, Al Jubail Colony Chandrayangutta, Shaheen Nagar, Royal Colony Balapur, Yakutpura, Malakpet, Bahadurpura, Falaknumah, Muradnagar, Azampura, Chaderghat, Indira Nagar, Singareni Colonies Saroonagar, Bapu Rao Nagar lingampally, etc. With more than 500 volunteers, the organisation was able to deliver 15000 plus food packets in more than 50 affected areas, regardless of the peoples’ religion and caste. SIO started a helpline number to connect with the distressed people. It received more than 300 calls in two days. Utilizing the basic engineering skills, the cadre prepared boats with minimal resources and rescued over 120 families.
The city president of SIO Hyderabad, Mr. Abdul Hafeez has appreciated these youth volunteers who have been working tirelessly and selflessly for the past two days. He stated that these are the cream of the society, and a great asset of it. He has further appealed to all the NGOs and youth groups in Hyderabad to make collaborative efforts to gain efficiency in works.
Mr. Hafeez has thanked Mawakhaat Foundation and Amoomat Society for their collaboration.
Syed Azharuddin, General Secretary of SIO, appreciated the selfless efforts of the organizations’ youths, workers and cadres who volunteered the rescue operations and carried out relief and rehabilation works even staking their own lives lives.
“These are the people who give preference to others over themselves,” said Azharuddin.
Social activist Khalida Parveen has been very alert and active in co-ordinating rescue operation, arranging provisions and shelters for the victims.
City President Mohammad Rashaduddin along with city secretaries Mr. Mohammad Muniruddin and Mr. Ahmed Junaid Sobhani inspected the areas while Mirza Azam Baig City Secretary visited the areas of the old city and also asked the government to provide relief to the victims.
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind(JIH) and SIO Telengana still continue its ceaseless efforts in providing temporary shelters to the victims and ensuring their safety and food requirements.
