Amid coronavirus lock down, a 22-year-old Muslim youth was beaten to death by violent mob in Delhi’s Bawana after he was falsely suspected of a conspiracy to spread COVID-19.
It all began with hate campaign against the Tablighi Jaamat. A portion of media projected the mistake by tablighi Jaamat as conspiracy, they portrayed the incident in bad light to further marginalize the Muslim community that resulted into this mob-lynching. Another Muslim man was martyred. He was killed in the same mannerr Tabrez Ansari, Pehlu Khan, Zunaid were.The context may be different but the victims are the same – the Muslims.
The man was iddentified as Mehboob Ali,a resident of Harewali village in Bawana in capital city.
According to news outlet maktoob, Ali has gone to bhopal in Madhya pradesh to attend a Tablighi jaamat conference and he returned after 45 days.
On his way back home, he was held at the Azadpur vegetable market and released after medical examination, police says. He was not infected by coronavirus.
When Ali reached his village on Sunday, rumours spread that he had a plan to spread coronavirus in the locality. Suddenly a gropu of violent mob surrounded him and kept thrashing.The furious mob took him to the field by force, even as the 22 year old Muslim youth kept pleading for mercy with folded hands. The assault on him continued and was filmed by one of the attackers. the mob also threatened to set him on fire alive.
He was taken to Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini, from where he was referred to GB Pant Hospital, where he was declared dead.
Delhi Police registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC.
