TDN World Desk: Indians are less charitable than its neighboring countries! Yes, a survey conducted by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) states in its finding that India ranks even behind Pakistan, Bangladesh Nepal in giving.
The most generous country in the world, According to CAF survey, has been United States of America. The United States of America maintained the top position over decades with an average score of 58%. Indonesia, Myanmar, and New Zealand are among the other top countries to spend more on charity. Other top countries include Ireland, Canada, UK, Sri Lanka.
However, India’s rank in the World Giving Index, compiled by CAF, is great disappointing. It ranks 82 among the 128 countries while India’s neighbouring countries — — Sri Lanka (9), Nepal( 53), Pakistan (69), Bangladesh (81) that are economically weaker and geographically and demographically smaller — have better performed in giving index.
The findings released online on Tuesday, November 13 said, more than 2.5 billion people have helped a stranger in the last 10 years.
Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) is internationally recognised UK based charity organization. This Survey was done after extensive toil and scrutiny. CAF has studied 10 years interviewing data and the survey covered 1.3 million people worldwide.
