TDN World Desk: A church in Kerala set an exquisite example of communal harmony by throwing open its doors for the Muslims to offer namaz.
On Saturday a group of anti-CAA protesters marched for 10km from Muvattupuzha to Kothamangalam, in Ernakulam district. In the midst of the protest when it became evening prayer time, the church Marthoma Cheriapally, a local church threw open its doors for the Muslims. The priest of the church offered the Muslims water for performing wuzu, or the ritual ablutions.
“I could experience the real spirit of India when authorities of an ancient church in Kothamangalam provided us space to offer Maghrib Namaz,” Sayyid Munavvar Ali Shihab Thangal, an influential spiritual leader of Kerala Muslims, who led the namaz, told PTI.
“In times like this when people are being segregated on communal lines, this is an example of communal amity for the entire nation to understand and follow,” Kuzhalnadan, who is a leader of the All India Professional Congress (AIPC), an arm of Indian National Congress told News18.
