TDN World Desk: An FIR has been filed against Zee News editor-in-chief Sudhir Chaudhary at Kozhikode Kasaba police station in Kerala for offending the Muslim religion in a televised program.
On Thursday, 7 May, an FIR has been lodged under non-bailable section section 295 A of the IPC against the Zee News anchor for hosting a controversial DNA program on its channel.
The FIR reads, “On 11 March 2020, Zee News TV channel broadcast DNA programme. The accused presented a programme that is offending the Muslim religion.”
The case was lodged by Kerala by Adv P Gavas, the state joint secretary of the All India Youth Federation (AIYF), the youth wing of the CPI.
The Complaint copy states, “Sudhir Chaudhary, the head and editor-in-chief of Zee News covered the different types of jihad organized by Muslims in India. He used a diagram to target the Muslims of India…He made comments during the show that can create religious hate amongst people and lead to communal riots. ”
BJP minister supports Sudhir Chaudhary
After the news of FIR filed aginst Zee News Editor came into light, BJP Minister Giriraj Singh extended support to him.
Floating a tweet in support of Sudhir Chaudhary, the BJP minister singh said, First, in the name of Jihad, the terrorists will create chaos, then if someone raises a voice against it and shows the truth, then they will file FIR on it?”
