TDN World Desk: In a show of Hindu Muslim harmony, Kerala mosque opened its doors and helped to organize a Hindu wedding.
Anju and Sarath tied their nuptial knot at the Cheruvally Muslim Jamaat mosque on Sunday following the Hindu rituals in presence of a priest.
After her husband passed away two years ago , Bindu, the mother of the bride Anju, has been struggling to meet financial needs of the family. She was staying in a rented house with her three children and was unable to bear the expenses of her daughter’s marriage.
At such a dire need, local Jamaat Secretary appeared as a messiah to Anju’s mother. He suggested her to approach local Jamaat Committee. And after she reached the muslim body, one of the committee members happily offered to bear the expenses of the wedding ceremony.
Speaking to PTI, secretary of Cheruvally Jamaat committee Nujumudeen Alummoottil, said, ” “The mosque committee will gift 10 sovereigns of gold and Rs two lakh to Anju as a wedding gift. The marriage will take place according to the Hindu rituals. We have also arranged food for around 1,000 people.”
“I’ve personally helped their younger child study. This time, the request was given to the mosque committee as the expenses for a marriage are quite high. So, the committee decided to assist the family,” Nujumudeen said.
Overwhelmed by the incident, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, sharing the picture of the wedding ceremony, congratulated the couple, and mosque committee and the people of the village.
