Madhya Pradesh government announced its desire to turn the state into a liquor-free state.
Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the government would run a state-wide campaigh with an appeal to abandon liquor consumption.
“We want to make MP a liquor-free state. It cannot be done with a liquor ban alone. Liquor will keep getting supplied if there are people to consume it. We will run a liquor-free campaign so that people stop consuming alcohol and we become a good state. We must take a resolution for this,” Chouhan said at a Saturday rally.
According to the statics released in 2018 by World Health Organization (WHO), each year more than 2.6 lakh people die due to reasons directly or indirectly related to alcohol consumption.
Alcolhol kills over 2.6 million people each year across the globe, pointed out the WHO report.
Alcohol consumption is prohibitted in Bihat, Gujrat has put ban partially.
Welfare Party of India, a value-based party had several times lanunched various campaign across the country demanding ban on liquor.
