TDN World Desk: The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data on accidental deaths and suicides discloses the miserable plight of the farmers and daily wagers.

According to the latest NCRB data, as many as 42,480 farmers and daily wagers commited suicide in 2019.

Sharing the harrowing news of the state of the farmers and daily wagers from his twitter handle, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi criticised the role of mainstream media for highlighting less relevant issues like the sad death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, than showing the abject situation of the daily wagers and farmers in the country.

” 9 PM Nationlist won’t do a show about India’s poorest being forced to die by suicide. There will be no inquiry, no interview of victims’ family members, no drama. They will not question Prime Minister of India at any cost,” Said the AIMIM chief.

He laso criticised the media for its diversion tactics.

While emphasizing that the voices of millions of Indians who are in pain should be heard, Owais said,” Instead tonight there will be full show about PUBG ban to distract us from the miserable state of our fellow citizens”.

“In the eyes of media one actor’s unfortunate death is worth more than the death of thousands of farmers and daily wagers”, he added.

Referring to the high number of suicidal cases among the farmers and day wagers, SIO General Secretary, Syed Azharuddin pointed out that unlike the 23.9% GDP fall, the agricultural sector has undergone more than 3% growth, suggesting a flaw in the system.

“The industry which has more than 3% growth is Agriculture when GDP reduced to 23% and the situation of its care takers is infront of us,” Said Azhardudin.
