TDN World Desk: The Muslim community members in a village of Uttar Pradesh sets beautiful example of communal harmony by performing the last rites of their Hindu neighbor when the country is going through a very tough time due to lockdown and coronavirus scare.
The Hindu man died on Saturday.The cause of his death yet not clear, according to News 18 the man died of cancer while other sources claim the man died due to coronavirus.
However, amid fear of coronavirus and lock down no relatives could turn up for the funeral. During this odd hour the local Muslims came forward and made all the necessary arrangement to perform the last rite. Not only they carried his dead body on shoulders, the Muslim men also performed last rites, cremated the dead body with due rituals.
Shankar’s son Pramod told News 18, “All our Muslim neighbours helped us with the last rites, everyone was very supportive. We are four siblings, our two sisters have been married while me and my brother are left to take care of the family.”
One of the neighbours, Mohammad Zubair told the media, “Ravi Shankar was our neighbor and had expired two days back, after which we decided to help his family. All the Muslims from the locality gathered and brought his body for cremation. After all, humanity is above anything else.”
