TDN World Desk: Not Mob lyncing by cow vigilants, not victim of riot. Rizwan Ahmed, 22, a daily wage worker, hailed from U.P.’s Ambedkar Nagar district died after allegedly being thrashed by Uttar Pradesh police, The Hindu repoted.

He died on Saturday, three days after he was brutally thrashed by police for coming out of home during the lockdown.

Israil, the father of deceased Rizwan said that his son stepped out in the Chajjapur locality of Tanda town in Ambedkar Nagar to buy domestic items on April 15 at around 4 p.m.

One of Rizwans relative told The Hindu,”he went to buy biscuits as he was hungry”.

As per father’s statement, Rizwan was beaten brutally. Seeing him there police goot down from vehicle and “beat him with lathis”.

Severely Injured Rizwan was treated at home but as his condition worsened, he was admitted to a local hospital in Asopur. But aftr examining his serious condition doctors there referred to take him to district hospital where died at 2 a.m.

Avanish Kumar Mishra, Addl. SP, told The Hindu, “After the post mortem is done and on the inspection of the CCTV footage, the allegations made by the family will be investigated and action taken”.
