TDN World Desk: A 25-year-old Muslim youth was attacked by Islamophobe mob outside a chemist store in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, on false accusations that he was a “coronavirus carrier”.
On Friday evening a group of people beat Samad mercilessly encircled outside a chemist store where he has gone to buy some mdecines. A video clip of the mob-assault victim Abdul Samad has gone viral on social media. Seeing him in traditional Muslim attire – wearing Kurta, Pajama – the mob said “Musalla [Muslims] has come. They are spreading the coronavirus. Beat him.”
Severely injure Samad was taken to Malkhan Singh District Hospital by relatives, who rushed the spot to rescue him after being informed.
“My son was feeling unwell after the fast on Friday night. He had gone to a chemist shop in the neighbourhood to purchase some medicine,” Samad’s father Laiqur Rehman told media.
Aligarh Police have booked six people in connection with the communal mob assault.
Samad is now safe and out of danger. On being referred to, he has been shifted to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital for treatment.
