TDN World Desk: Children were left out from National Register of Citizens in Assam but their parents granted Citizenship after submission of NRC documents. And incident landed the parents in crisis. To prevent their children from going to detention center, the children of 60 parents moved to Supreme Court.

After hearing petition filed by the parents, Attorney General K K Venugopal and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said such children will not be separated from their parents.

In a separate case the Supreme Court sought explanation from Assam Government over allegation that the state NRC coordinator was making communal statements.

“He should not be saying all this. You (Assam government) have to explain this. Whatever you want. He should not be saying all this,” a bench headed by Chief Justice S A Bobde observed after senior advocate Kapil Sibal drew the attention to the alleged statement made by the state NRC coordinator.

The petition filed in SC also demanded removal of Hitesh Dev Sarma from the state NRC coordinator post.
