TDN World Desk: A peaceful protest rally was taken out from Jaffarbad, North East Delhi at 2pm on Tuesday. People was marching towards Seelampur but suddenly it turned into violence.

Delhi police,Delhi Police sources told ANI, ” protest was scheduled in Jaffrabad,North East Delhi at 2 pm today. People gathered around 1:15 pm&marched towards Seelampur. Initially, protest was peaceful but suddenly violence emerged while they were dispersing.”

Two more metro stations — Johri Enclave and Shiv Vihar — closed in view of Seelampur violence.

After violence ensued, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal appeals to people to maintain peace, says violence cannot be tolerated in civilised society.

“It started as a peaceful protest against the citizenship bill … but got out of hand,” an eyewitness and of resident of the area Azib Aman told Reuters.

Speaking to NDTV, another Seelampur resident said, ” Those involved in violence were not from our area.”

As varying reports coming out, it is not clear who these people who had resorted to violence abruptly.

Outsiders theory: Sharing a video footage, CNN News 18 reporter Marya Shakil raised question about the identity of the people involved in violence.
