TDN World Desk:A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition has been filed in the Allahabad High Court seeking the suspension of or stay against the ordinance brought by the BJP-led Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh for the recovery of damage to public and private property during protests, bandhs or riots.

This ordinance was passed on Friday in a cabinet metting chaired by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.The ordinance mainly brought to target the anti-CAA protesters.

The PIL plea was filed by lawyer Shashank Tripathi on Tuesday, urging the court to issue a writ or direction declaring the ordinance ‘ultra vires’ to the Constitution. Speaking about his filing of PIL appeal, lawyer Shashank argued, “To evade from justifying itself from court of law, the State has played mischief upon the Constitution”.
