TDN World Desk: Bharatiya Janata Party gets blow in Tamil Nadu as its vice president BT Arasakumar formally joined the DMK on Thursday in the presence of party president MK Stalin at the party headquarters in Arivalayam.
On Monday, December 1, Arasakumar had courted controversy by stating that the DMK chief Stalin would become the chief minister in an “appropriate time.” He also praised Stalin during a wedding function in Pudukottai. Speaking at the wedding, he drew comparision between Stalin and MGR.
Taking note of the matter, the state BJP sought disciplinary action agains Arasakumar and asked him not to attend any media debates or party meeting till Party high command decides his fate.
To substantiate his move to joining DMK, Arasakumar told ANI, “My self-respect was damaged in the BJP. There are indisciplined people in the BJP. They use unparliamentary words.”
“DMK is my mother party and that is why I joined it. I have a good relationship with MK Stalin for the last 20 years. He is a quality leader and if he gives me an opportunity, I will accept it,” he added.
