TDN World Desk: Since Narendra Modi-led BJP government came in power in 2014, attack on religious minorities has been increasing in the country day by day.

Recently, the Tribal Christians in the stae of Jharkhand were allegedly, thrashed, humiliated and partially tonsured and forced to chant “Jai Shri ram” over verbal allegation that they had slaughtered a cow.

The shocking inciden was repoted by The Teleraph on saturday. The report of the incident triggered huge condemnation in the social media.

Shams Tabrez, the superintendent of police in Simdega district, confirmed the incident. The Poli officer said that they had arrested four of the nine accused. FIR has been filed over 10 unnamed accused.

Police officer Tabrez said, as quoted by The Telegraph, “A case has been registered under the SC/ST Act and several Indian Penal Code sections. A special investigation team led by the sub-divisional police officer is conducting raids to arrest the remaining accused.”

It is to be noted that under the previous Raghubar Das-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at least 22 mob lynching cases happened in the state.

Brinda karat, a heavyweight CPI(M) leader earlier branded the state as ‘Lynchistan’. Her remark was in response to the repeated mob-violence in the state during the BJP rule.

However, after the BJP government was divested of power in the state in last December election cases of mob lynching has also come down. Under the prsent JMM-RJD and Congress led ruling coaliation government this is the first repoted communal violence in the state.

The victim were identified as Raj Singh, Deepak, Emmanuel Tete, Sugad Dang, Sulin Barla, Soshan Dang, and Sem Kido.

Raja Singh, one of the victim of the communal atack and local pastor, said,” “They thrashed us badly with sticks and alleged that we are slaughtering cows and selling them in the market. We were also forced to chant ‘Jai Sri Ram’. When we objected, they garlanded with shoes and took us to nearby Kumhar Toli and partially tonsured us.”

“They had brought blades. They had tonsured us while teasing us,” Singh told The New Indian Express.
