TDN World Desk: Several muslim leaders and students were linked to Noretheast Delhi violence. Delhi Police invoke the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPAJNU against research scholar and former JNU student Umar Khalid. In the latest development, Khalid was called by the Cribe Branch for questioning in the northeast Delhi riots case, in which 53 people were killed.
Besides Umar Khalid, Jamia student and RJD youth wing president Meeran Haider, JCC media coordinator Safoora Zargar, and Danish were also booked under the stringent UAPA act.
Umar Khalid, who is known for his anti-CAA-NRC activism and association with United Against Hate, was summoned by Delhi Police on Tuesday.
“On Wednesday morning, at around 11.30, he (Khalid) came along with his two-three family members at Sunlight Colony office and joined the investigation. We are questioning him and trying to verify some important points,” an unnamed officer was quoted by The Indian express as saying.
On September 1, Umar Khalid wrote a letter to the Commissioner of Police, Delhi, saying that he was being falsely implicated by the officers of the Special cell of the Delhi Police.
In the last month khali was questioned also for around three hours. Folowing the interrogation his phone was seized.
