TDN World Desk: When the world is grappling to contain coronavirus, communalism has become a real threat for the well being of India. Fruit sellers in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand were seen of putting up banners with “Viswa Hindu Parishad approved Hindu fruit shop” wriiten on it.

On being informed, the Jharkhand Police on Saturday moved swiftly to act against communal fruit sellers in Jamshedpur after they displayed banners declaring their shops as being by the VHP. The fruit-sellers were booked under Section 107 of the IPC, repoted news outlet Janataka Repoter.

Social media users first drew the attention of the Jharkhand Police on Twitter posting the photo of the banner displaying anti-secular sentiment.

Hemant Soren government in Jharkhand acted promtly to remove the banner from the fruit establishments, and booked the fruit sellers under section 107 of the Indian Penal Code.


Jharkhand was previously under BJP rule. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha President Heman soren has toppled the BJP government in the last assembly election in December. During BJP regime Jharkhand was called ‘lynchistan’ by CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat for the increasing mob lynching in the state.

It is to be noted that, in 2018, American intelligence agency CIA listed
the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal as “religious militant organisations” .
