New Delhi: Welfare Party of India (WPI) has raised strong objections and condemned the role of Delhi police for filing charge-sheet naming its national president Dr SQR Ilyas in connection with the February North-East Delhi Riots.

On Monday, Welfare party has issued a press-release demanding immediate withdrawal of all charges against him including all other innocent activists.

Terming the investigation carried out by Delhi Police as ‘shoddy’, WPI said, The investigation agencies turned blind eye on the riot mongers like Kapil Mishra, Mohan Singh Bisht, Jagdeesh Pradhan and al and named DR SQR Ilyas and other innocent activists in the charge-sheet.

Annulling Delhi Police’s claim that SQR Ilyas made an instigating speech in Chand Bagh, Abdul Jabbar Siddiqui, Nationa General Secretary of WPI, said,” Dr Ilyas is a prominent leader, a man of integrity, patriotic who strongly advocates unity in diversity, upholds constitution and is a law abiding citizen.”

In the official statement WPI accused the partisanship and biasedness of the Delhi Police and BJP government for the abject failure of the duty and law and order machinery in the capital.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the Delhi Police who operate under the instruction of Union Home Minister, MR Siddiqui said those who has instigated and caused the violence in Delhi Riots are not arrested but the innocent activists like Dr Ilyas re targeted who exercised their constitutional right to dissent aginst the contentious CAA law.

Mr Sidddiqui said that the party will take legal course of action and expose those who are intentionally maligning Dr Ilyas’s image and reputation and called it travesty of justice for falsely implicating him and other innocent activists to silence dissent and to suit their political narrative.

Mr Siddiqui demanded that Dr Ilyas including all the innocent activist’s names to be immediately dropped from the charge-sheet and all charges be withdrawn.
