TDN World Desk: During election campaign Narendra Modi hinted about major collapse in TMC bastion. He said that about 40 MLA’s are in touch with his party.
Just after election that hint by Modi seems to have some concrete basis. One after another TMC heavy weight leaders are quoting party to join BJP. On Tuesday, 50 TMC councillors including two seating MLA joined BJP. And on Thursday, another heavy weight MLA Monirul Islam from Birbhum’s Labpur joined BJP.
On Tuesday, Mukul Roy’s son Subhranshu Roy including above two and half scores of leaders joined BJP at the presence of BJP general secretary Kailash Vijaywargiya.
However senior TMC minister Firhad Hakim is of the opinion that these leaders quit from the party would not affect its strength.
“If some of the leaders join the BJP just because it has won a few seats, they are nothing, but rats who abandon a ship sensing danger. It is good that they have left our party,” said Firhad Hakim.
