TDN World Desk: After verifySCSTOBCMinority, and cancelallBlueTicsinIndia twitteratis in India now demands to verify Muslim Activists’ twitter account.

On Tuesday night thousands of Indian twitter users appealed to @TwitterIndia to verify the accounts of the Muslim activists. And within hours this appeal became twitter sensation on the microblogging platform becoming one of the top trends. Muslim activists, students leaders, journalists also joined the digital movement.

Journalist Shahid Siddiqui wrote, ” I am one of the most prominent and senior journalist/editor of Urdu,a very senior political analyst in Media. Former member of Parliament.Writer, educationist, activist But Twitter never verified me.
However I neither care nor bother about this caste system.”

Another Twittera, Mukesh Kumar, Raising question over Twitter India’s basis of verifing accounts, wrote, ” Look at this @jack
What’s is happening in @TwitterIndia @verified on what basis they do the verify Twitter account. @AliSohrab007 @drkafeelkhan @AshrafFem

Md Asif Khan took to Twitter,
Mr @hajirafiqansari is an MLA from Meerut and former Minister of State, but his account also not verified by @TwitterIndia .Amit Shah’s son can be @verified within minutes but Muslim activists can’t, why @manishm345 ???#VerifyMuslimActivists”

Student activist Syed Azhar Uddin also raised question as to why his organisation Student Islamic Organisation (SIO) was not verified.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) also supported the demand to verify Muslim activists along with blue tics for SC,ST,OBC activists. From their party’s official Twitter handle they wrote,
RJD is against any kind of discrimination on the basis of caste, creed, faith and sex. We believe in equality and liberty. Twitter should #VerifyMuslimActivists and extend #BluetickforSCSTOBC activists and other deserving activists.”

For last few days Twitter’s method of verification is under scrutiny. People are raising questions. In the first week of November Twitteratis point finger at Twitter India authority and accused it of being biased to the minority and marginalized communities.

Especially the controversy came to the fore as the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah’s son, Jay Shah managed to get his twitter account verified with only 19 followers and zero tweet.
