TDN World Desk: Citizenship law has created enough uproar within and outside India. In a major set back Bangladeshi Deputy Foreign Minister Shahriar Alam has cancelled his India visit.
According to sources, Mr Alam was expected to arrive in Delhi to participate in the Raisina Dialogue hosted by the Ministry of External Affairs.
This is for the third time Dhaka has cancelled high-level bilateral interactions between the countries within a month.
After Amit Shah’s statement on the persecution of the minority Hindus in the country bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and Pakistan seemed to have affected.
Before this, two other ministers – Bangladesh Foreign Minister Abdul Momen and Home Minister Asaduzzaman cancelled his India trip.
During the last leg of December, BNP leader Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir slammed the Indian government over NRC and CAA. He said that the way Myanmar made Rohingyas stateless and forced them to take shelter in Bangladesh, Modi government was doing the se with Indian Muslims.
