TDN World Desk: Concerned by the Chinese Communist government’s with the ethnic Uighur Muslims, the European Parliament called to impose a ‘targeted sanctions’ against the Chinese officials and freeze their assets.

Adopting a resolution on Friday, the members of European Union Parliament narrated the human rights violation in China’s autonomous Xinjiang state, and the arbitrary detention of the Uighur Muslims without any charge, trial or conviction of criminal offences.

“MEPs call on the Council to adopt targeted sanctions and freeze assets, if deemed appropriate and effective, against the Chinese officials responsible for severe repression of basic rights in Xinjiang,” the European Parliament said in a statement.

Over 10 lakhs ethic Uighur Muslims from the autonomous Xinjiang region have been put in internment camps. China repeatedly denied the charges and maintained that those camps are merely vocational training centres.
