TDN World Desk: The Seikh Hasina Government in Bangladesh decided to relese BNP chairperson and former Prme Minister of the country Begum Khaleda Zia for six months suspending her conviction order.
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq hase made the announcement in a press briefing held at his Gulshan office in Dhaka on Tuesday.
Speaking at the press meet Law Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq told reporters, “Following Prime Minister’s order and as per the law we have decided to stay her sentence for six months and she will be released for a period of six months when she must stay in her own house and take treatment in the country.
She would not be able to go abroad during the time.”
For more than two years Khaleda Zia the main opposition leader of the country has been in jail aftewr he was convicted in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case on February 8, 2018.
