TDN World Desk:The horrific assassination of Saudi dissident journalist Jamal Kashoggi shook the press fraternity all across the world.But, it has been more than one year thatKashoggi’s fiancee,Hatice Cengiz, running pillar to post, seeking justice for his brutal murder.

On Monday, Cengiz, Turkish researcher and activist, adressed a press conference titled “500 days after the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi” organized by the Geneva Association of United Nations Correspondents (ACANU).Here on this occassion she urged the United nations and european Union to launch an international investigation into his murder “to prove the legitimacy”.

Citing a report of by the UN Special Rapporteur on extra-judicial killings, Agnes Callamard,Cengiz said as quoted by Anadolu Agency,”The findings of this report are very clear — there needs to be an international investigation. But there are no signs of this, and it has caused me and others to question the legitimacy, legality and authority of the United Nations.

Khashoggi, a columnist for The Washington Post, was killed and dismembered by a group of Saudi operatives shortly after he entered the country’s consulate in Istanbul on Oct. 2, 2018. Ryadh admitted its officials alegiance in the murder. Khashoggi’s body was never found after oit disappeared from the Saudi consulate in Turkey.
