TDN World Desk: The police crack down on Jamia and Aligarh students the draws attention of the International community. The United states has called upon the Indian authority to “protect and respect” the rights of the people who are protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act.
“We are closely following developments regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act. We urge authorities to protect and respect the right of peaceful assembly. We also urge protestors to refrain from violence,” a US State Department spokesperson told ANI.
On Monday, renowned celebrities from the film fraternity like Anurag Kashyap, Taapsee Pannu and Swara Bhaskar condemned the reuthless manners in which the govenment handled the protestors. The frontline’s educational insttitutes such as IIT Knpur, Madras, Jadavpur University, Tata Institute of Social Science also expressed solidarity with the Jmia And Aligarh students. Yogi govt. in UP directed the Aligarh University students to vacate hostels as a means to crack down their anti-CAA movements which drew national attention.
