At the age of 19 Sameer Kazeem has become the youngest candidate ever to win the Assembly District Democratic Party election.

Sameer, who came up from a South Asian immigrant family, has bagged the victory in the California District-6 by a majority.Even beat 5 out of 7 official candidates on the democratic slate (Endorsed by democratic party) . He stood at number 3 spot on District-6 vote count.

Apart from being the youngest candidate, Sameer is also the only Muslim/ South Asian candidate to assume this remarkable position. His victory brings huge amount of diversity to the 28-strong delegate roster. He is currently a student at UC Berkeley.

Sameer was on both Bernie campaigns, as well as a Muslims for Bernie and Youth for Bernie organizer in the Muslim community.

During his election campaign Sameer made committment to set up a Progressive platform of Public Education Investment, Environmental Transition, and Expanding Healthcare Access.

Sameer was active in the school safety movement, organizing the National School Walkout and serving as speaker at the March for Our Lives. He continues this as Vice
President of Students Demand Action for Gun Sense at UC Berkeley. He has hold the post of Youth Commissioner (Placer County, CA).
