TDN World Desk: Turkey’s president recep Tyaap Erdogan on Wednesday condemned those who use the word ‘Islam’ as an adjective to describe terrorism.
Speaking at an event hosted by AK Party’s UK branch presidency, Erdogan said, “Islam is a religion of peace.”
He was accompanied by First Lady Emine Erdogan and met representatives of the Turkish community following a NATO summit in London.
Referring to racist, discriminatory, anti-semitist, islamophobic far-rights movement gaining ground in Europe and Britain, he said, “The last European Parliament elections have once again demonstrated that identity politics is becoming increasingly dominant in Europe.”
Erdogan also spoke over Turkey’s unwavering stand to fight against terrorism.
“Those who think they can discipline Turkey with terrorism and blackmail are embarrassed after failing to achieve their target,” erdogan was quoted by Anadolu Agency.
He also spoke over Turkey’s unprecedented economic flourishment and defence strength. erdogan also said that Turkey is “independent in its foreign policy”.
Turkey launched Operation Peace Spring on Oct. 9 to eliminate YPG/PKK terrorists from northern Syria east of the Euphrates River in order to secure Turkey’s borders, aid in the safe return of Syrian refugees and ensure Syria’s territorial integrity.
